About Us > About Windmill

Background
Winmill Community Association was founded on 08/04/86, a committee of eleven members was elected at this meeting. The Association at that time was involved in keeping a peat processing plant from starting operation at Rossorry Church Road. Other issues that the Association were trying to address was the provision of a bus from the estate to the town for shopping and also to have a telephone box and letter box installed.
Windmill Heights is a mixed estate consisting of 168 houses and pensioners bungalows. A lot of the homes are now occupied. Our estate is a mixed religious one, with everyone getting on well. Windmill Heights is convenient to all local amenities e.g. shops, churches etc., and a bus now leaves the estate every hour from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
