About Us > About Drumgallon

Background
The group was established in 1999 to try and deal with various problems that had arisen in the area.
There was a survey carried out over the 5 estates, which the groups represent, it highlighted anti-social behaviour, lack of amenities, no contact with statutory authorities. The majority of people living in the estates are unemployed, there are quite a lot of senior citizens and children in the five estates.
We are situated approx 3 miles from Enniskillen town.

Activities to date
We have organised senior citizen's trips, Youth activities, i.e. football tournaments, boat trips, Christmas and Halloween parties, Christmas parties and outings for senior citizens, re-instated the play park adding a piece of equipment our-selves. Raised all issues in the area with the relevant statutory bodies. Ran several night classes, including computers, first air, reflexology, stress management, fundraising.

Current activities
We are currently going to update our existing website linking us to all other estates. We have a Halloween fancy dress and refreshments organised, a Santa grotto for the younger children and a senior citizens Christmas dinner organised. We also have obtained a grant towards citizens and special needs adults. We are currently attending a 20-week course on counselling skills and hope to go to further training whish is offer. We have also had 2 garden competitions and installed new signs and flowerbeds in the five estates with help from the council and fundraising.
