About Us > About Devenish Partnership Forum

Background
Devenish Partnership Forum was established in 1994. It was set up to takle issues of social and environmental deprivation through community development initiatives.
The four estates we work on make up the Devenish area. The estates are called Kilmacormick I and II, Hillview and Cornagrade. 3600 people live on the estates, about 25% of the population of Enniskillen.
The estate where the project is based Kilmacormick I, is among the highest 1.5% of employment in Northern Ireland. Child poverty on the 4 estates is relatively high with 75% of children aged 0-16 living in a household claiming benefit.

Activities to date
We have improved the physical condition of the estates by raising funds for
- New paths and lighting
- New playgrounds
- Home energy efficiency
Community Development work providing opportunities for social and educational enjoyment is ongoing.

Current activities
The Forum has four EU Peace funded projects: Study support aimed at young people aged 13-25, women's development programme, a programme targeting marginalised young people and a cross-border organic gardening project. We also have youth project for younger children, a local nature reserve, community transport project and aftershcool childcare facility.
